A successful opening season for the Williams-Renault partnership. Thierry Boutsen wins a couple of races (in Canada and Australia) and an impressive level of reliability and consistency propels the team to second place in the constructors’ championship. Renault’s V10 hits the ground running and in the back of the FW13, which is introduced for the final four races of the year, it’s a particularly potent force. The drivers score four podiums in four races, helping the team to leapfrog Ferrari in the constructors’ standings.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT

The team’s 1-2 finish in the wet Canadian Grand Prix, giving the Williams-Renault partnership its first victory in F1.
