MANAMA, March 12 (Reuters) - Former Formula One world champion Damon Hill has agreed to serve as a steward at two races this year including the showcase Monaco Grand Prix, the FIA said on Friday.
France's four-times champion Alain Prost is filling the role in this weekend's Bahrain season-opener as part of a new initiative by the governing International Automobile Federation to try to ensure fairness and transparency.
"During the course of the year a number of drivers will appear at events," FIA deputy president for sport Graham Stoker told a news conference.
"Damon Hill has agreed to do two events, it is likely he's going to do Monaco and another one, and we've got a range of other drivers who positively have said they will come along and help us."
