Adam Parr - Chairman
After graduating from Eton and then Cambridge University where he was a scholar, Adam Parr began his career with Barclays investment bank, Barclays de Zoete Wedd. He concentrated on Japanese equities and trading, and he was relocated to Japan as an equities analyst, focusing on heavy industrial sectors.
On his return to the UK, Adam was seconded to Rio Tinto by BZW to help with mergers and acquisitions. He then joined Rio Tinto full time, firstly as Personal Assistant to the Head of Exploration and then as Assistant to the General Manager of the Palabora copper mine in South Africa.
In 1993 Adam took time out to study law. He practised public law at the Bar for five years, appearing in cases up to the Court of Appeal.
Adam returned to Rio Tinto in 1998 as Assistant to the Chairman and Chief Executive. His main focus was to address industrial safety and he took up a series of senior executive posts during six years in Australia. Finally, he served as President and Chief Commercial Officer of Rio Tinto Minerals.
Adam first met Frank Williams in 2000 and in November 2006 Adam was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Williams F1 and in July 2010 he was promoted to Chairman.
