Tom McCullough - Race Engineer, Senna
Tom McCullough inherited his interest in motor racing from his father, who raced in club events and prepared cars as a hobby. He subsequently bought a Formula Ford 2000 Crossle and raced it to gain a better understanding of trackside engineering.
In 1998 Tom completed a four-year sandwich course at the University of Hertfordshire, with support from racing car manufacturer Reynard, whom he joined upon graduation.
Tom went straight into Reynard’s Champ Car department as an R & D engineer, before moving to Fernandez Racing as a Track Support Engineer. Tom remained at Reynard until the company ceased trading in 2002.
In November 2002, Tom secured a post at Williams F1 and, in so doing, turned down a job offer from Jaguar Racing. He initially worked as a data engineer for Williams’ test and race teams, before spearheading the test team’s track operations.
In 2010 he moved to the grand prix frontline as a race engineer. He worked with Nico Hulkenberg in ’10, Rubens Barrichello in ’11 and he will engineer Bruno Senna for the 2012 season.
