Williams Racing is pleased to announce the launch of an innovative new virtual events platform, ahead of this weekend’s 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone. The Williams Virtual Experience will take partners and their guests behind-the-scenes on race day, providing unparalleled access to the Williams Racing trackside garage and factory, and enabling them to experience the thrill of Grand Prix racing all from the comfort of their own homes. Virtual garage tours, exclusive content, pre-race interviews with team personnel, plus opportunities to speak with Deputy Team Principal Claire Williams, and race drivers George Russell and Nicholas Latifi, will keep attendees entertained in the build-up to lights out on Sunday. The team held a successful trial of the virtual offering for partners last weekend at Silverstone in the form of a pre-race show. With races currently being held behind closed doors owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, this pioneering initiative will bring guests closer to the action than ever previously possible remotely. The experience will be offered throughout the 2020 Formula One World Championship season and developed even further with new weekly features at each Grand Prix. The Williams Experience Centre will, in the longer term, look to utilise the platform to build on its hugely successful Race Day Hospitality at Williams HQ. This hybrid offering, with both physical and virtual attendance possible, will enable partners and Formula One fans to join the team in the heart of the action wherever they are in the world. Corporate customers will also be able to utilise the highly secure and fully customisable site for product launches, conventions and global conferences, empowering partners and customers alike to pivot a live experience into an online or hybrid event when needed. Tim Hunt, Commercial and Marketing Director of Williams Racing said: “COVID-19 has been a challenge but also an opportunity for us to innovate and accelerate the launch of initiatives like this. I am proud of the team who have pulled this together and I am excited by the opportunities this provides us and our commercial family. In our opinion, virtual and hybrid events have a huge part to play in not only the global expansion of our sport, but also in our ability to deliver value back to our partners and fans alike. This is just the start for this platform, and we will have more to offer our fans as it expands in the future.”
