Reutemann loses out on the drivers' title by one point at the final race in Las Vegas, leading him to announce his retirement from the sport. Off-track, the team’s meteoric rise through the ranks is acknowledged by Her Majesty the Queen, when Frank Williams receives the Queen’s Award for Export. The team’s title sponsorship changes hands mid-season from Abilad Williams to TAG Williams.
