Nicholas started his career in motorsport at a young age racing karts in his homeland of Canada. Early success was followed by a move to Europe in 2012 to pursue his racing career in three of the most competitive Formula 3 Championships – the European, Italian and British series.
After two seasons racing in the highly competitive FIA Formula 3 European Championship, Nicholas stepped up to Formula Renault 3.5 in 2015 and continued to impress with his speed, skill and maturity.
In 2016, Nicholas commenced his first full season in GP2 and displayed his potential immediately by finishing on the podium at the first race of the season in Barcelona.
Nicholas continued with DAMS in 2017 as the category was rebranded as the FIA Formula 2 Championship. He achieved nine podiums and a maiden win, setting four fastest laps on his way to fifth in the standings.
In 2018 he returned to the FIA Formula 2 Championship whilst taking on the role of Reserve and Test Driver for Racing Point Force India F1 Team.
In 2019, Nicholas had his most successful campaign to date in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, he claimed four wins and eight podiums and took P2 in the drivers’ championship. Alongside his racing commitments this year, Nicholas joined ROKiT Williams Racing as an official Reserve Driver, and will step up to Race Driver for the 2020 season.
