Salford Valve Company, or Salvalco, is looking to lessen the environmental impact of aerosols by replacing traditional hydrocarbon propellants with inert gases or fresh air. The innovation lies within a family of Eco-Valves that will work across air fresheners, deodorants, sun creams, medical products and more.
Foresight and Williams Advanced Engineering’s £1.6m investment in Salvalco will support the development and commercialization of the technology, including research and further product development. Williams Advanced Engineering will support the design and optimisation of future valve concepts.
The widespread adoption of Salvalco technology in aerosols would have a major impact in benefitting the global environment, but also in the aerosol supply chain, where the current volatile and flammable propellants are costly to store and transport.
