Welcome to the Silverstone Circuit, home of the British Grand Prix, located in the heart of England, and the scene of the first World Championship race.
Known as the "Home of British Motor Racing," Silverstone is famed for its fast corners and high-speed layout, creating a flat-out challenge to drivers and plenty of action for fans.
Like many circuits with such a long life, Silverstone has undergone numerous modifications since its inception, but it never lost its core characteristics of speed and bravery for those who tackle it.
Circuit Overview:
Silverstone's modern 5.891 km (3.661 miles) layout boasts 18 turns, many of them featuring iconic names that have decades of memories associated with them.
Sector 1 is the newest part of the track, and the twists of Village and The Loop let the field close up before zooming down the Wellington Straight to start Sector 2 at Brooklands and Luffield, where wheel-to-wheel battling often occurs.
The second sector also includes the legendary Maggotts-Becketts-Chapel complex, where high-speed direction changes defy belief before Sector 3's Hangar Straight, Stowe Corner, and Vale-Chapel round out a lap with more overtaking opportunities.
