Control Systems Engineer
Williams Advanced Engineering are currently recruiting for a Control Systems Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis.
Reporting to the Performance Control Systems Lead, this is a key role where the successful individual will provide control systems design and implementation to the Formula E control systems team.
Duties will be wide ranged and varied and will include being responsible for the specification, development, validation and management of control strategies at component, subsystem and system level.
Involvement, where necessary, in all aspects of the specification, development and delivery of control systems for the Formula E team. This covers specific activities such as specification, requirement capture, design, implementation, simulation, testing and calibration.
The successful Individual will proactively be contributing to team performance through new ideas, innovation, and drive, ensuring project requirements are captured and understood. Projects could be on-car, rig, simulator and simulation.
The Ideal candidate will provide robust solutions and supporting their implementation in tight timescales, maintaining awareness of technology developments across the broader market, advising the team as appropriate
You will need to be flexible to accommodate projects changes as required. You will also need to ensure high levels of competence in the use of development tools and hardware as required.
The successful candidate will have an engineering degree or proven experience in a relevant discipline, you will be an expert user of Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow and automatic code generation techniques for algorithm development. A strong understanding of control system design for real-world applications is essential.
Experience of C code writing for embedded systems, dSPACE or similar HIL rig systems would be advantageous.
Occasional travel to events or external companies, may be required.
You will be a strong team player and have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, as well as have a flexible attitude towards working hours, a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to solve problems.
