Contract Mechanic
Williams Advanced Engineering are currently recruiting for a Mechanic to join our Formula E team for a period of 6 months on a contract basis. Reporting to the Chief Mechanic, this is a key role where the successful individual will proactively assist the Chief Mechanic to ensure the workload is completed to the correct standard and support the turnaround of race, development and show cars accordingly.
Duties include being responsible for the operation and service of the race car, under guidance from No.1 Mechanic. This involves undertaking sub-assembly tasks such as uprights: stripping, cleaning and rebuilding, wishbones: staking, steering rack: rebuilding, wheel run outs: making jig, etc.
The successful individual will arrange and undertake repair of vinyl application and build race car bodywork. They will be able to carry out necessary maintenance/servicing of equipment, both at the factory and at events. There is a requirement to assist with assembly/disassembly of equipment at race events as necessary and to operate equipment as required and report faults or issues which may lead to a failure. It is essential they record and work with department performance measures for target date delivery performance and the cause of any downtime or delays.
The ideal candidate will maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation of all equipment and proactively work to maintain and improve the team presentation at events. They will be able to maintain positive relationships with all other staff and factory departments and follow and enforce the Company’s health and Safety policy.
To be successful in the role you will be a strong team player and have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, as well as have a flexible attitude towards working hours, a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to solve problems.
Occasional travel to events or external companies, will be required.
