Jigs and Fixtures Design - Team Leader
Williams F1 are seeking a capable design engineer that has strong interest in Design, Production and Planning to join our Design Department to oversee our Jigs and Fixtures team.
To manage, coordinate and report on the Jig and Fixture Design (JFD) Group that are tasked with scoping, planning, designing and releasing jigs and fixtures to suitable standards, costs and timescales to meet development and production plans laid out by the business. These solutions should support accurate, repeatable, timely and cost-effective manufacturing.
In conjunction with the Design Groups and End Users, produce jigs and fixtures, to the highest standard whilst working within the, ‘Fit, Form and Function’ methodology.
Drive home ‘Best Practice’ within the Group and develop departmental engineering standards.
Maintain all department loading spreadsheets so that they are accurate.
Maintain the department planner so that is an accurate reflection of capacity.
Report regularly to the Production Engineering Manager on progress of projects as well as performance measures.
Liaise regularly with Departments/Production Controllers that feed/are fed by the JFD Group (Inspection, Machine Shop, Composites, ADM, Patternshop etc.) to ensure priorities are transparent.
If required, liaise with Advanced Engineering personnel to ensure that parts requested by external customers are delivered on time and are to the desired quality.
Review and report department performance measures to reflect metrics such as total number of parts designed, required lead times, target date delivery performance etc.
Implement the company’s Health & Safety policy and ensure H+S is a consideration in every design.
Ensure that Company Policies and Procedures are adhered to. Where necessary escalate any matters to the Production Engineering Manager.
Identify ways to improve the department’s performance. Instigate improvement projects, monitor progress and report to all in the group.
Conduct effective annual performance reviews for all departmental staff.
Identify and implement training of department staff to support continuous improvement of individuals and the whole group.
Contribute to the writing of specific job descriptions
Contribute to detailed skills matrices for all JFD’s to identify any skill shortages and/or improvement opportunities.
Always promote and encourage a positive working environment.
At all times work under minimum Supervision.
