Williams Grand Prix Engineering is seeking a capable and proficient Quality Engineer to join our Quality Department.
To improve manufacturing, procurement, assembly and design methods to reduce non-conformance's and improve the reliability of manufacturing and the Formula 1 car itself.
This role will work within a large manufacturing factory environment, including machining of metals and plastics; composite moulding and laminating; additive manufacturing; fabrication; as well as extensive use of sub-contractors for similar processes and more specialised products.
Problem-solving, attention to detail, organisational and communications skills; adaptation to unfamiliar process to enable analysis and correction. Familiarity with quality testing tools and methods; and manufacturing processes and methods.
To analyse and verify specifications, manufacturing techniques and assembly methods on a variety of parts and products.
To follow all relevant instructions, both written and verbal, and highlight any deficiencies observed in the process.
Preparation and completion of internal quality documents (aimed at reaching customer departments or suppliers).
Implement process and product improvements as guided by the Chief Quality Engineer, non-conformance reports, reliability and performance faults and customer complaints.
Company performance indicators to measure against include count of non-conformances and reliability faults, with others to be determined.
Support internal and supplier teams with results from process and product analysis.
Suggest and support corrective and preventative actions to all manufacturing departments.
Work with the technical team to improve production performance to agreed standards and work with other team members as needed.
To work safely always, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations and reporting all Health and Safety concerns immediately.
Generally accepted requirements:
3-5 years' experience within mechanical engineering and manufacturing businesses - Quality, Production or Design engineering. Not necessarily F1.
Science, maths or engineering qualifications including apprenticeships.
Experience of using basic but high-precision measuring equipment.
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as being able to work within a small team.
