Atlassian Williams F1 Team driver Carlos Sainz today sent a good luck message to the Spanish national football team ahead of the World Cup, which kicks off in Mexico City this evening.
The proud Spaniard issued a rallying cry to his compatriots as they prepare for their first match against Cape Verde on Monday – and as Formula 1 prepares to race in Spain for the Barcelona-Catalunya GP this weekend.
In a specially filmed message delivered to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and posted on Williams social media channels, keen footballer Carlos said:
“To the entire Spanish national football team, the very best of luck in this World Cup. We will be right behind you every step of the way. The whole of Spain is with you. A big hug and lots of luck."
Spain, coached by Luis de la Fuente and captained by Rodri, face Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in Group H of the World Cup taking place across Mexico, the USA and Canada.
