The 2026 Formula 1 season continues in Montreal as Atlassian Williams F1 Team head to the Canadian Grand Prix for Round 5 of the campaign.
Following an encouraging double points finish in Miami, the team arrives in Canada looking to build on recent progress at a circuit that presents a very different challenge.
Carlos Sainz is encouraged by the team’s performance in Miami and is focused on carrying that form into another demanding Sprint weekend.
“It was good to be fighting in the points in Miami and putting together a solid race, which is exactly what we need to carry into this weekend. Montreal is a very different circuit to Miami, so we need to be spot on with car setup and completely focused on execution. “We are facing another Sprint weekend and those details will make a difference. It's also a track where anything can happen, and I'm looking forward to getting back out there.”
Alex Albon is equally motivated after the team’s strongest showing of the season so far.
"Miami was a real step in the right direction for us - it was great to see the upgrades running well, to properly fight in the midfield and bring home a double points finish. But we know Montreal is a very different challenge, and that Miami tends to suit us as a circuit, so the focus now is on carrying that momentum somewhere that will truly test where we are. “Canada always delivers unpredictable weather and a high likelihood of safety cars, and with it being another Sprint weekend, every session counts. There is still plenty more to unlock with the package and we'll keep pushing as a team. We want to leave Montreal with a clearer picture of where we stand and where we can keep making gains ahead of the European season."
