The Strategist’s Predictions – Barcelona-Catalunya GP
Q1: On which lap will Alex make his first stop?
Strategist's Pick: Lap 1-10
Alex stopped as early as Lap 6 in Barcelona last year, and with tyre degradation typically among the highest we'll see all season, the strategist is expecting another aggressive opening stint.
Q2: On which lap will Carlos make his first stop?
Strategist's Pick: Lap 1-10
Carlos boxed on Lap 9 during last year's race, and starting from P16 could open the door to another early strategic gamble.
Q3: How many full Safety Car periods will there be?
Strategist's Pick: 0
While a Safety Car did appear in Barcelona last season, it was the circuit's first full deployment since 2021. History suggests Sunday's race could stay relatively clean.
Q4: How many pit stops will Alex make throughout the race?
Strategist's Pick: 2
A conventional two-stop remains the most likely strategy around Barcelona, particularly if the tyre degradation levels seen throughout the weekend continue into race day.
Q5: How many pit stops will Carlos make throughout the race?
Strategist's Pick: 2
Carlos made three stops here last year, but the strategist is backing a more straightforward two-stop approach this time around.
Q6: When will our fastest lap of the race be recorded?
Strategist's Pick: Between Lap 57-Finish
With fuel loads reducing and drivers able to push harder in the closing stages, the strategist expects our quickest lap to come late on. Carlos set our fastest lap on Lap 65 here last year.
Q7: Which tyre will Alex end his race on?
Strategist's Pick: Hard
A long final stint on the hard compound is the preferred route according to our strategist, prioritising consistency over outright pace.
Q8: Which tyre will Carlos end his race on?
Strategist's Pick: Hard
The same prediction goes for Carlos. Although both drivers finished on soft tyres in Barcelona last year, the strategist believes the hard compound will be the tyre of choice at the chequered flag this time around.
