Formula 1 heads to Singapore for Round 17 of the 2026 season, with the Marina Bay Street Circuit set to host its first Sprint weekend.
The final race of the triple header brings another demanding challenge for the team, with hot and humid conditions, a bumpy street circuit and limited practice time making it crucial to hit the ground running.
Carlos Sainz is looking forward to returning to a circuit where he has enjoyed some memorable moments, while keeping an eye on the opportunities that could arise from the unpredictable conditions.
“Singapore is a track I have good memories at, so I always look forward to coming back here. It's a demanding track with the heat, the bumps and the walls meaning there's no room for mistakes, but that's part of what makes it special. The weather can also create some chaos and bring opportunities to move through the pack, so reacting to what happens around us will be important. The focus this weekend is to maximising everything we can, execute a good weekend and see where that takes us.”
Alex Albon is also excited to return to Singapore, where the atmosphere and support from the fans make the weekend feel like a home race.
“Singapore feels like a home race, and I always look forward to coming back here. The atmosphere under the lights is unreal, and I love seeing all the fans both at track and at our activations in the city. It's also one of the toughest weekends physically. It's hot, humid, and bumpier since it is a street circuit. With this race being a Sprint weekend for the first time, we've only got one practice session before we're straight into it, so we'll need to hit the ground running. It's the last race of the triple header too, so the whole team has been working hard to get here. Hopefully we can finish it off with a strong weekend.”
