Williams Racing recorded a second-successive top 10 finish at the United States Grand Prix after Franco Colapinto’s stellar drive from P15 to P10.

On the other side of the garage, it was a trickier afternoon on his 100th race start for Alex Albon after picking up damage to both the rear and front of his car at the opening turn.

After a tough Qualifying session, to leave Circuit of the Americas with one extra point to our name is a testament to all the work done by the team overnight.

Gaetan Jego (GJ), Franco’s Race Engineer, was quickly on the radio to congratulate our No43, as was our Team Principal, James Vowles (JV).

GJ: OK, that’s the chequered flag. So that’s P10, P10. Congratulations, that’s one point! You had the fastest lap for quite some laps before Ocon pitted to take it away from us. That was truly a solid weekend from your side. We saw that today, learning all the way, following what we discussed. The learning step on Sunday, we keep working hard and you did that amazingly. Strong race, mate - P10. You deserve it, congrats.

FC: Yeah, thank you Gaetan, thank you everyone. Mega job, starting from P15 it was difficult to think we’d get in the points but we never stop, guys. We never stop working, it was a tough quali but we had a quick car, we kept going, we stayed strong together. We have to just keep going into the history books together, this is just the start. I’m sure we can finish these races in the Americas with a few more points. Let’s keep working, I really trust you guys and I’m really proud of what we have done in only a couple of races. Thank you those in the garage, you’ve been amazing all weekend, so supportive. Always everyone is super helpful at Williams. Thank you, thank you. It’s just the start.

JV: Franco! Just… mega, mega race! Come on, well done! Vamos!

FC: Vamos!

JV: That was perfect, really well delivered - I can’t wait to see what you can do across these next two. Car was quick, that’s what you showed today in the race. I can’t wait to see what you can do across these next two. I understand a bit more with the team about what we can do about quali. Come on, let’s keep going!

FC: Yeah, James! It’s just the start. Let’s go!

FC: It’s CRAZY the amount of Argentinians in the grandstands! Haha, Brazil is going to be insane. Oh my god! There are SO MANY, it’s insane!

GJ: Haha!

James Urwin (JU), Alex’s Race Engineer, and James Vowles both came over the airwaves to speak to Albono after a tough afternoon on his 100th race start.

JU: OK, chequered flag. P16.

JV: Well done Alex, you showed good resilience out there. Unfortunately when someone hit you into Turn 1, that damaged the car and that was race over for you. Thank you for fighting through. The good news is that the car has got pace, so we’ll get it right in quali and you’ve got a good chance for the remainder of the year.

AA: We need to fix the car, I don’t think it’s all that great. I don’t think we understand that much with the rear locking. But well done to Franco, I think we are quicker than the midfield, most of them.

JV: Understood on that rear locking, we will get on top of it.

JU: Tough race mate, but well done. Well done.

Both Alex and Franco will be back behind the wheel this weekend when we head to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Williams Racing terminó otra vez entre los mejores 10 de forma consecutiva, esta vez en el Gran Premio de los Estados Unidos, tras una espectacular carrera en donde Franco Colapinto pasó de la P15 a la P10.

Al otro lado del garaje, fue una tarde más complicada para Alex Albon en su carrera número 100, ya que tuvo daños en la parte trasera y delantera del coche en la primera curva.

Después de una complicada sesión de clasificación, despedirnos del Circuito de las Américas con un punto extra es testimonio de todo el trabajo que el equipo hace durante la noche.

Gaetan Jego (GJ), ingeniero de carrera de Franco, sintonizó rápidamente la radio para felicitar a nuestro número 43, así como nuestro director de equipo, James Vowles (JV).

GJ: Genial, ahí está la bandera a cuadros. Bien, terminamos en P10. ¡Felicidades, sumamos un punto! Tuviste la vuelta más rápida durante bastantes vueltas hasta que Ocon entró a boxes y nos las quitó. Ha sido un fin de semana muy sólido de tu parte. Lo vimos hoy. Estás aprendiendo sobre la marcha todo lo que hablamos. Luego de la curva de aprendizaje del domingo, seguimos trabajando de manera ardua y corriste de manera increíble. Qué espectacular carrera, amigo. Salir en P10. Te lo mereces, felicidades.

FC: Sí, gracias, Gaetan, gracias, gente. Qué gran trabajo. Habiendo salido de la 15.ª posición, pensábamos que no íbamos a terminar con los puntos. Pero nunca nos rendimos, gente. Nunca paramos de trabajar. Fue una clasificación dura, pero teníamos un coche rápido, seguimos adelante y nos mantuvimos fuertes juntos. Tenemos que seguir juntos para hacer historia. Esto es solo el comienzo. Confío en que podemos terminar estas carreras en América con unos puntos más. Sigamos trabajando porque realmente confío en ustedes y estoy muy orgulloso de lo que hemos hecho en tan solo un par de carreras. Gracias a quienes están en el garaje. Fueron un equipo increíble todo el fin de semana y me apoyaron un montón. Todo el mundo en Williams siempre es súper colaborador. Gracias, gracias. Es solo el comienzo.

JV: Bien hecho, Alex, demostraste una buena resiliencia en la carrera. Desafortunadamente, el momento en que alguien te golpeó el coche en la curva 1 significó el final de la carrera para ti debido a los daños. Gracias por seguir dándolo todo. La buena noticia es que el coche tiene un buen ritmo, así que tendremos una buena clasificación y ya tienes una buena oportunidad para el resto del año.

AA: Tenemos que arreglar el coche. No creo que esté del todo bien. No creo que comprendamos mucho qué sucede con el bloqueo trasero. Pero felicitaciones a Franco. Creo que somos más rápidos que los del centro del campo, o sea, la mayoría de ellos.

JV: Entiendo el tema del bloqueo trasero. Nos encargaremos de ello.

JU: Qué difícil carrera, amigo. Pero bien hecho. Bien hecho.
