Atlassian Williams F1 Team is taking its pioneering STEM education programme global by hosting camps in North America and building the experience into its award-winning Fan Zones.
Over the past three years the team has hosted more than 25,000 8- to 16-year-olds from schools and clubs across the UK at Grove, aiming to inspire them to pursue STEM subjects and careers through free F1-themed education days. Starting this week in Miami, tens of thousands more people will get to try a hands-on learning experience in our award-winning Fan Zones – giving them a unique insight into the engineering behind the world’s fastest sport.
And from next year Williams will launch camps in North America for the very first time, giving students a chance to learn about how science is used to shape the world of motorsport.
Campers should expect sessions in the simulator, real hands-on F1 engineering challenges, and even guidance from motorsport experts as part of the first-of-its-kind motorsport camp concept.
Weekend-long day camps will open over select 2027 race weekends, with plans to launch week-long summer camps thereafter.
It marks the next step in Williams’ long-standing commitment to inspiring the next generation and helping the brightest and best into F1 – which also includes our Williams F1 Team Driver Academy, Early Careers programmes which make up 12% of our workforce, and the Williams-Komatsu Engineering Academy.
The Williams STEM Experience has been hugely successful, with 87% of students saying they were more likely to consider STEM careers or subjects as a result of the experience. Our city centre Fan Zones have brought hundreds of thousands of fans closer to F1 than ever since launching in 2024. More than 340,000 people have had the chance to meet drivers, see our cars up close, test their skills on simulators and get exclusive merchandise. In addition to Miami, there will be Fan Zones in Barcelona, London, Madrid, Singapore, Austin and Las Vegas this year.
Katherine Solomon, Head of Education at Atlassian Williams F1 Team:
“Investing in the next generation of engineering, science and technology talent is central to building a team that can win again. The students who come through our programmes don’t just learn about engineering – they believe they can work in it. Expanding that opportunity through North American camps and into our Fan Zones is something we're incredibly proud of, and we look forward to inspiring thousands more young people around the world.”
