Alex Albon 100: Ten unforgettable moments in blue
As Alex Albon prepares to make his 100th Grand Prix start for the team, we take a look at 10 memorable from his first 99

Alex Albon will become the first driver in our history to reach 100 race starts for Atlassian Williams F1 Team this weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
When Alex arrived at Grove ahead of the 2022 season, few could have predicted how his story would develop with ours. Four and a half seasons on, he has delivered points from races that seemingly offered none, secured award-winning overtakes and become a key part of this team's revival. That, as well as a few different shades of hair colour.
Ahead of start number 100 at the Hungaroring, here are ten standout Alex moments in blue.
1. A new tyre whisperer? - Australia 2022
Race 3 of 100
Just three races into his Williams career, Alex delivered one of the boldest strategy calls in recent memory. After starting P20 in Melbourne having been disqualified from qualifying, he ran almost the entire race on a single set of hard tyres, pitting from inside the points at the end of lap 57 of 58. He emerged back onto the circuit in P10, securing our first point of the season.
2. Seeing red - Miami 2022
Race 5 of 100
The backstory to this one began before Melbourne, when Alex visited a Thai orphanage and let the children there dye his hair red, temporarily. He promptly scored in Australia, but as the colour faded, so did the luck, with points slipping agonisingly out of reach at Imola with a P11. So ahead of the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, the red became permanent, and Alex charged from P18 to P9 with another long-stint masterclass under the Florida sun.

3. You shall not pass - Canada 2023
Race 29 of 100
Montreal 2023 remains one of the great defensive drives of recent seasons. Promoted to P9 on the grid after a penalties ahead, Alex made an early switch to hard tyres and ran them for 58 laps, eventually climbing to P7. What followed was a relentless four-car DRS train, led at times by George Russell, and later by Esteban Ocon. The Alpine driver filled his mirrors to the flag, but Alex crossed the line seventh, securing Driver of the Day for his efforts.
4. Quali best - Netherlands 2023
Race 34 of 100
In a wet-dry qualifying session at Zandvoort that caught out several front-runners, Alex kept his composure and put the FW45 in P4, his best Saturday result for the team. Sunday brought, at times, biblical rain and a red flag, but he held firm through the chaos to convert it into P8 and solid points.

5. Sprint through the field - Qatar 2023
Race 38 of 100
Sprint races rarely offer time to make real progress, but Alex found a way. From P17 on the grid at Lusail, he picked his way through the field and steered clear of any trouble to finish P7, all in just 19 laps. It’s one of his most underrated Williams drives, and proof he doesn't need a full Grand Prix distance to make things happen.
6. Two in one - Canada 2024
Race 52 of 100
Back in Montreal, this time in treacherous conditions, Alex charged towards the final chicane with both Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon ahead of him. He’d clear the pair of them in a single move, with this double pass recently voted the best overtake of the last five seasons in an official poll.
7. Double points in Baku - Azerbaijan 2024
Race 60 of 100
On a weekend when Baku's walls caught out a number of others, Alex brought the car home P7 while Franco Colapinto followed him across the line in P8. At the time, it was our best team result since Alex's arrival, and a double points finish that lifted the entire garage.

8. Back where it began - Australia 2025
Race 67 of 100
Melbourne, the scene of that first point three years earlier, delivered again. In a chaotic, rain-affected season opener, Alex kept it clean and converted a strong weekend into P5 - his best finish in Williams colours, and an early statement that 2025 would be a different kind of year.
9. Principality precision - Monaco 2025
Race 74 of 100
Monaco's new-for-2025 mandatory two-stop format demanded a chance for genuine teamwork, and Alex and Carlos Sainz delivered it. Both took turns controlling the pace to protect each other's pit windows in a strategy superbly executed. Alex brought it home P9, with Carlos completing the double points finish behind him. George Russell, stuck in the queue, was, let’s say, less than enamoured with the plan, so Alex offered to pick up his dinner bill.
10. Flat-out at Spa - Belgium 2025
Race 79 of 100
P5 in qualifying at one of the sport's great circuits, celebrated with a fist-pumping radio moment that told you everything about what it meant. Alex backed it up on Sunday, managing tricky conditions through the Ardennes to bring home P6.

From that last-lap gamble in Melbourne to fist pumps at Spa, Alex's first 99 starts have given us far more memories than this one list can hold.
Start number 100 comes this weekend at the Hungaroring. Whatever it brings, one thing is certain: he'll leave everything out there, like he always does.
