There’s plenty to spot in this year’s United States badge, with each element paying tribute to American and Texan culture and the city of Austin.

A classic cowboy hat and boot bring two instantly recognisable symbols of Texas to the design, while a longhorn adds another touch of the state’s character. A star motif and a burst of stars and stripes nod to the Lone Star State and the country as a whole.

The hat itself, carrying the Austin name, completes the badge and gives it a clear connection to the host city.
