The 2026 Formula 1 season continues at Silverstone for Round 9 of the Championship, as Atlassian Williams F1 Team return to home soil for one of the biggest weekends of the year.
With a passionate home crowd, the challenge of a Sprint format and a small upgrade package arriving on the FW48, the team will be looking to make the most of every opportunity at Formula 1’s birthplace.
Carlos Sainz is eager to get back behind the wheel at one of his favourite circuits and hopes the team’s latest developments can help close the gap to the midfield.
“Silverstone is one of my favourite circuits on the calendar, so I’m looking forward to getting straight back into it this weekend. There’s a reason this track is iconic, and the atmosphere is always electric, especially with it being the home race for the team. We’re also bringing a small upgrade this weekend, which will hopefully help us close the gap to the midfield. That’s our focus, and we want to be continually moving forwards to bring points home consistently. The fans here are incredible, so if we can reward them with a strong result on home soil, that would be super special.”
Alex Albon knows the significance of Silverstone for the team and is ready for the unique challenge of a Sprint weekend under the new regulations.
“Silverstone is always one of the highlights of the season. The atmosphere is incredible, and with so many home fans supporting the team, it's a weekend everyone looks forward to. A huge thank you to everyone who'll be out there cheering us on - the energy you bring really does make a difference. This year is a bit different with it being a Sprint weekend, so we'll have limited time to fine-tune the car before we're into sessions. “It'll also be our first time driving Silverstone with these new regulations, which should make some of the high-speed sections interesting. We are bringing a small upgrade package this weekend, and the goal is to maximise every session and hopefully give the home crowd plenty to cheer about.”
