The inspiration behind Franco's lid for Mexico and Brazil

Franco Colapinto has completed just five Grands Prix in Formula 1, and he's already brought his first custom helmet to the sport.

Honouring Carlos Reutemann, the lid in Car #43 sees a clean look with yellow, white, and blue surrounding the visor and the Argentinian flag featuring on each side.

Subtle gold lines separate each element for additional flair to bring the entire look together in a modern 2024 way.

Franco Colapinto has unveiled a special helmet for the races in Mexico City and Sao Paulo.

Carlos had the same design, although even simpler than Franco's rendition, with the Argentinian flag surrounded by the yellow box running behind his head.

A fitting tribute from Franco, then, to a driver whose footsteps he is treading in.

Not only is our 2024 driver the first Argentine racer to score points since Carlos, but Franco made new F1 history for his nation by driving for Williams Racing.

Carlos spent two full seasons at Grove in 1980 and 1981 before leaving early in the 1982 season, taking three victories and 12 further podiums in his time with us.

Just a single point separated Carlos from becoming an F1 champion in one of the sport's tightest title fights, and a gearbox issue in the season finale cruelly saw pole position slip to P8 and no points.

Franco is bringing back Carlos' helmet to F1 in a Williams Racing car some 42 years after it last appeared in the FW07C at the 1982 Brazilian GP.
