From the open plains of Texas to the altitude of the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, it’s time for Round 20 of Pit Wall Predictions, presented by Gulf.
Mexico City’s high altitude always throws a curveball or two, with thinner air affecting both engines and tyres – and The Strategist is ready to factor that in.
Carlos lines up P12 after carrying a grid penalty from Austin, while Alex starts from P17. With both FW47s looking to climb through the field, smart strategy could make all the difference.
Here’s what our secretive Grove-based guru is predicting for this weekend’s race in Mexico:

Q1: On which lap will Alex make his first stop?

Lap 21–30. Alex didn’t pit during last year’s event, but The Strategist expects at least one visit to the box this time, as higher track temperatures test tyre durability.

Q2: On which lap will Carlos make his first stop?

Lap 21–30. Carlos claimed victory here in 2024 and made a late first stop on Lap 32 – and The Strategist foresees a similar window in play once again.

Q3: Which Williams Racing driver will pit first?

Alex Albon. Alex’s starting position could see him play the early undercut card, diving in before Carlos.

Q4: How many pit stops will our drivers make between them?

Two. Our guru is going for a one-stop strategy across both cars

Q5: How many Virtual Safety Car periods will there be?

Zero. Despite a history of VSC appearances in Mexico, The Strategist predicts a clean run this time around.

Q6: How many full Safety Car periods will there be?

One. With the circuit’s tight middle sector and low grip off-line, a single SC feels like a fair bet.

Q7: Which tyre will Alex end his race on?

Hard. The white-walled compound should comfortably see Alex through the closing laps at high altitude.

Q8: Which tyre will Carlos end his race on?

Hard. Carlos is also tipped to end his race on the durable Hard, consistent with the most successful strategy here in recent years.
Will you side with The Strategist’s steady hand, or risk a bolder play in pursuit of Pit Wall Perfection?
