Singapore has become an iconic F1 city – but which city without a race on the current calendar would you most like to see host a street circuit?
Well that’s the question we put to WClub members during last week’s Singapore Grand Prix. More than 3,500 fans submitted their picks, and these are the most popular suggestions, starting with…
Honourable Mentions
These are the five cities that came close to breaking into our top 10 most common suggestions, alongside a fan’s reason why.
Los Angeles (46 picks): “Perhaps in Santa Monica, with a climb from PCH up as a challenging section.”
Vancouver (47 picks): “So I could visit it and volunteer as a Canadian as a marshal.”
Toronto (47 picks): “A waterfront street circuit around the CN Tower, harbourfront, and under and over the bridges of the Gardiner Expressway.”
Edinburgh (52 picks): “Imagine watching an F1 race from a castle. Minus the Scottish weather, it’ll be a brilliant atmosphere!”
Sydney (67 picks): “Can you imagine over the Harbour Bridge? Iconic!”
Sydney just misses out on a spot in the top 10...
10th - Chicago (69 picks)
Whether you’re speeding along Lake Shore Drive or down the Magnificent Mile, one thing is for certain: the backdrop to a race in Chi-town would be exquisite. The combination of incredible skyscrapers and the shores of Lake Michigan would give it a truly unique feel.
Or, as one WClub member suggested, perhaps we take a page out of The Dark Knight’s book: “A race through Lower Wacker Drive would be insane!”
9th - Berlin (70 picks)
From the Brandenburg Gate to the green expanse of the Tiergarten, Berlin has plenty of grand boulevards and landmarks to line a lap. It’s also a city with real appeal for a trip, with fans picturing a weekend that blends racing and sightseeing.
As one member put it: “There’s currently no Grand Prix in Germany and it’d be a fascinating place to drive through, plus it’s relatively easy to travel to!”
8th - Adelaide (71 picks)
Damon Hill en route to victory at the final F1 Grand Prix in Adelaide in 1995
This one is a comeback rather than a debut. Adelaide hosted the Australian Grand Prix from 1985 to 1995, with Williams winning the first and last Grands Prix to be held in the city. A city-centre circuit with a festival atmosphere, it remains one of F1’s best-loved street races.
The case from one WClub member was short and to the point: “Bring back Adelaide. Always a team favourite.”
6th= - Cape Town (73 picks)
Table Mountain looming over the circuit, the Atlantic on one side and the V&A Waterfront on the other: it’s easy to see why Cape Town’s pitch came with so much detail.
Singapore may have set the standard, but according to one member, Cape Town could match it: “Imagine Singapore’s atmosphere with Cape Town’s scenery.”

6th= - Rome (73 picks)
The Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the sweeping avenues of the Eternal City: if it’s history you want in a backdrop, Rome might beat everywhere else on this list. Are you not entertained?
Once we’d navigated the slight issue of its cobbled street surroundings, it’s the Colosseum that has captured one WClub member’s imagination: “Watching the cars round the Colosseum would be amazing!”
5th - Bangkok (80 picks)
Riverside straights, heavy braking zones and a skyline lit up after dark: Bangkok has all the ingredients for a spectacular night race. And for WClub members, there’s another reason to love the idea: giving Alex a home Grand Prix.
As one fan put it: “Bangkok! Albon needs an actual home race in Thailand!”
4th - Tokyo (99 picks)
Japan already has a Grand Prix at Suzuka, but Tokyo is a different proposition: neon-lit streets, towering skyscrapers and the famous Shibuya Crossing. Think Tokyo Drift, with a lot more downforce.
One member sums up the appeal: “Tokyo would be insane at night, with street neon lights and F1 cars bolting by.”
3rd - New York (174 picks)
A place on the podium for the Big Apple
Few cities are as instantly recognisable on camera as New York, and WClub members can’t stop picturing cars hurtling between the skyscrapers of Manhattan, with Times Square at full throttle. Of course, it’s a prospect that almost came true in the early-2010s, with a street circuit slated alongside the Hudson on the New Jersey side of the river.
In the words of one member: “The sound bouncing off the high-rise buildings would be amazing.”
2nd - Paris (204 picks)
The Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées, the Seine and the Eiffel Tower: no other city on this list can offer a lap quite as postcard-ready. And the chaos of the Arc roundabout is surely a talking point in itself.
As one member said: “Paris, just to see everyone going around the Arc de Triomphe.”
1st - London (335 picks)
Our duo crossed Tower Bridge on an iconic double-decker bus earlier this year
Buckingham Palace, the Mall, Westminster Bridge, Big Ben: London was the runaway number one, with 335 picks. Britain already has a home race at Silverstone, but WClub members clearly have an appetite for a Grand Prix in the capital.
And as one member argued: “London! Just so many sights. Imagine the backdrop.”
