Alex Albon set to equal Nigel Mansell’s 95 Grand Prix starts for Atlassian Williams F1 Team

A little bit of history is set to be made at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, with Alex Albon on target to make his 95th race start for Atlassian Williams F1 Team.

That would see our Thai driver draw level with 1992 Formula 1 World Champion Nigel Mansell, whose tally has stood since his final race for the team at the 1994 Australian Grand Prix.

It’s been an impressively quick climb up the charts, although Alex himself would be the first to point out that modern Formula 1 drivers compete in far more races per season than those who came before him. For example, Nigel never contested a season featuring more than 16 Grands Prix, while each of Alex’s previous four campaigns with Williams has included either 22 or 24 races.

The milestone comes just six rounds into Alex’s fifth season at Grove, and it’s an achievement that could have arrived even earlier were it not for three non-starts during his time with the team.

That said, it remains a moment worth celebrating. Last time out in Canada, Alex drew level with Ralf Schumacher’s tally of 94 starts for the team putting him in some legendary company.

Albono has been a cornerstone of the Williams rebuild in recent years, playing a key role in the team’s rise from P10 in the 2022 Constructors’ Championship to P5 last season.

There have already been so many standout moments during Alex’s time at Grove – from tyre-whispering masterclasses in Melbourne to stern defensive drives, incredible double overtakes in Montreal, and a hat-trick of top-10 finishes at Silverstone.

His personality, combined with his racecraft, has made him not only a hugely popular figure within the team, but also across the Formula 1 paddock.
