Formula 1’s mandatory summer shutdown forces almost everyone to switch off for two whole weeks – no emails, no car development, no simulations. In fact, there’s only a small amount of work that can be done.
What this means is that most of the team get some crucial downtime away from the circuits and factory, and Carlos and Alex were no exception.
But how did Carbono spend their shutdown? Well, keen listeners among you will have heard them reveal their plans on the most recent edition of Team Torque. Keep reading to find out…
Carlos
For Carlos, it was all about spending time with his family in the Balearic Islands – something he has been doing for as long as he can remember.
Spending time on the water is an ideal way to escape the spotlight of the F1 world, and with the continent currently experiencing a heatwave, being on the Mediterranean would have been the perfect way to cool down during the shutdown.
Mix that with some fitness work and, of course, some golf, and you’ve got the ideal Carlos Sainz holiday.
Alex
Fresh from making his 100th race start for Atlassian Williams F1 Team, Alex headed to South Africa for a whistle-stop visit, thanks to our friends at SuperGroup.
From there, he returned to Europe, where he also headed to the Mediterranean – Sardinia, to be precise.
Then it was time to head for the hills, hiking with his fiancée, Lily Muni He, through the spectacular Dolomites.
Cue another spectacular Instagram photo dump… quite literally in this case.
Our Summer Sale is here, with 40% off select styles from our casual collection. Whether you're keeping it low-key between race weekends or flying the flag on the daily, there's never been a better time to add to your Williams wardrobe.
