Call Carbono is back for the new season.
And with it comes exactly what Alex Albon promised from the start: “some terrible advice to people” - delivered, of course, with just enough truth to make it interesting.
Filmed in between race commitments, the latest episode leaned fully into fan dilemmas, covering everything from decluttering habits to career decisions, but it was one recurring theme that stood out throughout: confidence.
From dating analogies framed in racing terms to debates that naturally invite different perspectives, here’s what we learned.
You’re Not P14, You Might Be P1
One of the episode’s most memorable moments came from a fan question that translated dating into Formula 1 language: “I like this girl, but I’m P14 and I need to win this race. What do I do?”
Carlos didn’t hesitate to challenge the premise.
“You’re not P14, mate. You’re P14 because you believe you’re P14. Who says you’re P14? You might be P1.”
What followed was a clear message: Confidence, both agreed, is often less about reality and more about perception.
“Fake it ‘til you make it,” Alex added - citing body language as a key factor. “Even if you think you look stupid, look more confident.”
The advice might have been simple but it resonated. Fans quickly picked up on the line, with “You might be P13” becoming one of the episode’s most quoted moments!
Dating Advice, Carbono Style
It’s safe to say not all of the duo’s advice has landed quite as well. When asked whether someone should text first or “protect their dignity”, Carlos felt that “men are chasers” and encouraged subtle hints over direct moves.
Alex, meanwhile, offered a slightly different perspective: “I wouldn’t say Lily made the first move, but she followed me first,” he explained.
It was clear that our two drivers have different ideas about how courtship should work!
Logic vs Lifestyle
Away from relationships, another fan dilemma brought out a different side of the duo. Faced with the choice between renovating a bathroom or investing in a golf membership, Carlos approached the problem with logic.
“You’re going to use your bathroom 365 days a year,” he explained. “The golf membership… maybe 50.”
His conclusion? Invest in the long term, improve your day-to-day life, and come back to golf later.
Alex agreed, rounding out an unexpectedly practical segment of the episode - even if it still included a detailed appreciation of Japanese toilets along the way…
Creative Minds at Work
Not all questions were about life decisions. When asked for ideas for an art exam based on Formula 1, both drivers leaned into creativity, suggesting ways to visually represent the evolution of the sport.
From comparing classic cars to modern machinery, to blending eras into a single concept, the answers revealed a different side to both drivers.
Alex’s idea of combining perspectives across generations stood out, showing that even off track, the way drivers see Formula 1 can be as layered as the sport itself.
Chaos, Honesty and Just Enough Truth
From debates about sentimentality - despite both drivers admitting to holding onto things they probably shouldn’t - to a shared and immediate fear of spiders, Call Carbono brought humour and humility in equal measure.
And while not every piece of advice was universally agreed upon, that was never really the point.
In the end, perhaps the biggest takeaway is simple: Formula 1 drivers might offer their perspective - but you should probably still make your own decisions!
