It’s been a strong start to the 2025 season for Atlassian Williams Racing, but how did we get here?

This hasn’t been just any start, it’s been our strongest opening 10 rounds since 2016. With 55 points already banked, we’ve rocketed past the combined haul of 2022, 2023, and 2024 in just over a third of this season.
But how did we get here? This is our whistle-stop recap of the first 10 rounds.

Round 1: Australia – Thrills in the Wet

The season kicked off in Melbourne, and what a season opener it was! A rain-soaked Grand Prix saw Alex Albon slicing through the chaos to bring home P5 and 10 points, our best first-race finish since 2016. Carlos Sainz ultimately didn’t get the first race with Williams we all wanted following his opening lap accident, but he put any disappointment behind him to lend a crucial hand from the pit wall. It was a P5 result that set the tone, and built the foundations for what was to follow.

Rounds 2-4: Building Momentum

By Round 5 in Saudi Arabia, the FW47 was delivering consistently:
China: Alex P7, Carlos P10 (+7 points)
Japan: Alex P9, Carlos P14 (+2 points)
Bahrain: Carlos DNF, Alex P12 (+0 points)

Round 5: Saudi Arabia – A Masterclass in Teamwork

Under the Jeddah lights, we delivered a standout display of teamwork. Carlos finished P8, with Alex in P9, working in tandem to hold off the Racing Bulls car.
"Towards the end of the race the team identified that Hadjar was going to be a threat for Alex, so with 12-13 laps to go I was asked to give him DRS,” Carlos explained.
“It wasn’t easy, as in this track, with three DRS zones, the slightest of mistakes can be very costly. However, we managed it perfectly and secured an important double points finish for the team. I’m very happy after putting together a good weekend.”
James Vowles praised the display of unity: "Really great work by the team. This was a well-earned, proper points finish, putting us fifth in the Constructors’ Championship.
"We are so fortunate to have two world-class drivers at the top of their game, and today you saw how that pays off. Today was about the team, not an individual, and I couldn’t be prouder."

Rounds 6–7: Mid-Season Charge

In Miami and Imola, the FW47 really showed its teeth:
Miami: Alex P5, Carlos P9 (+12 points)
Emilia-Romagna: Alex P5, Carlos P8 (+14 points)
For the first time since the start of the hybrid era, the team were battling amongst podium chasers – finishing 10 seconds from P3 in Miami and five seconds away from the rostrum in Imola. By this point, we’d racked up 51 points in seven races; compare that to zero after the same amount of races in 2024.

Rounds 8–10: Consistency and Resilience

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, but our midfield consistency shone through. A battling drive on the alternative strategy in Montreal saw Carlos pick up the final point-paying position.
Monaco: Alex P9, Carlos P10 (+3 points)
Spain: Carlos P14, Alex DNF (0 points)
Canada: Carlos P10, Alex DNF (+1 point)
