This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed was a special one for the Williams Education Team, as we joined Future Lab to celebrate an incredible milestone: 75 Years of Formula 1 - while inspiring the next generation of engineers, scientists, and innovators.
Over an unforgettable weekend, more than 70,000 visitors explored our STEM-focused activation, experiencing the excitement, innovation, and heritage of Atlassian Williams Racing up close.
A HANDS-ON STEM EXPERIENCE
Usually housed exclusively at our HQ in Grove, we brought a snippet of our regular STEM Experience Day to the iconic grounds of Goodwood. Visitors had the chance to:
Get hands on with a race-used sidepod from Alex Albon’s FW46
Explore a 60% wind tunnel model used in the development of the FW35, alongside parts of wind tunnel models from the FW40 and FW43
See Alex Albon’s 2025 race suit up close
View helmets from Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz in detail
Touch, feel and lift a Pirelli Formula 1 tyre
Admire the incredible LEGO FW14B and LEGO Nigel Mansell helmet
Test their reflexes on a Batak Reaction Wall, just like ones used in driver training
Take on the STEM Crumple Zone Challenge, where children and adults alike design and test their own crash protection concepts to learn about safety and engineering. Inspired by our composites workshop which can be experienced on our STEM Experience Day
These activities showcased the science, technology, engineering and maths concepts that drive high performance on traci – from aerodynamics and materials science to safety and reaction training – all inspired by our STEM composites workshop at Grove.

Our Williams STEM Experience isn’t just about showcasing the awe-inspiring world of Formula 1 - it’s part of our mission to make science, technology, engineering, and maths accessible and exciting to young people across the UK.
Through our free education programme, we aim to engage 10,000 school children in 2025, helping them discover pathways into STEM careers.
As Team Principal James Vowles explains:
“Developing bright young minds has always been part of our DNA at Atlassian Williams Racing, and it’s central to our ambition of winning World Championships again. Formula 1 can sometimes feel like an impossible dream, but we want all children to see firsthand where a career in STEM can lead. By showing what’s possible, we hope to inspire them to choose science, technology, engineering, and maths as part of their education."
Looking Back and Moving Forward

The energy inside the Future Lab was fantastic - from the excitement of young fans discovering wind tunnel model for the first time, to families competing in the Crumple Zone Challenge. It was a celebration of Formula 1’s rich history, its cutting-edge present, and the bright future ahead through STEM.
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to The Goodwood Group for hosting us in the Future Lab and giving us the opportunity to inspire so many visitors.
