Inspiring the Next Generation: How Atlassian Williams Engineers are Unleashing Innovation to Shape the Future of STEM

At Atlassian Williams Racing, we’re not just evolving to break records on track - we’re evolving to break boundaries in STEM education, too. Our Atlassian Williams Education Team is a small but growing force within the business, dedicated to delivering world-class STEM experiences to schools at no cost. Our mission is to ignite excitement in STEM careers and Atlassian Williams Racing through immersive F1 inspired experiences.

The Atlassian Williams Racing STEM Experience takes students straight into the heart of motorsport at our headquarters here in Grove. Students experience the rush of F1 sim racing, a hands-on STEM workshop and a tour of our heritage museum, bringing the story of Williams to life. Every element is designed to educate and inspire while showcasing decades of triumph and ingenuity on the track and in our factory.

So far in 2025, we’ve welcomed over 4,000 students to our Experience Centre, and we aim to reach 10,000 by year’s end. With a growing waitlist of eager schools, we cannot wait to open our doors to even more future engineers and innovators soon.

As part of our commitment to share a broad array of STEM skills, we’re broadening the scope of our experience by offering a suite of workshops that encompass the diverse STEM roles within Atlassian Williams Racing. Schools will have the ability to choose a workshop best suited to the interests of their students and curriculum needs. To achieve this, we turned to 30 talented experts from across our business. Over the past eight weeks, they’ve observed the current workshop and participated in an ideation session. In teams, using design thinking methodology, our F1 experts competed to generate exciting new concepts for workshops inspired by their everyday work that range from designing wing profiles and sidepods for wind tunnel testing to simulating race strategy challenges. Each group competed to bring the best ideas forward. The winning team will get to see their concept turned into a new STEM workshop that thousands of students will take part in.

Their creativity and knowledge have unlocked fresh opportunities for students to gain hands-on insights into the work done at Grove and trackside. These ideas exemplify the collaborative spirit of Williams and showcase the expertise that drives our success on and off the track.

We are incredibly grateful to our experts for their energy and innovation. Now, the STEM team embarks on the exciting challenge of turning these ideas into impactful workshops.
