As the 2025 season continues to unfold, Atlassian Williams Racing remains a team firmly in the spotlight – not just for its performances on track, but for the story unfolding behind the scenes.
From widespread media acclaim to fan-favourite challenges, here’s what the media have been saying this week…
Our Comeback Story
Few stories have resonated across the paddock and the press this year like our resurgence – and this week, the headlines shared just how far the team has come.
The Guardian offered a powerful look at James Vowles’ leadership journey, focusing on his belief in learning from setbacks. “When you fail, you learn more than anything else you’ve done prior to that point, because it hurts,” said James. “As long as you take the learning from that and give it to everyone else, it’s the strongest thing you can do.”
Reflecting on the broader transformation at Grove, he added: “The biggest change we’ve really made is actually just getting the team to work together in harmony, point the right way and talk to each other. The right people in the right place working together with the right culture wrapping around them.”
Meanwhile,
El País painted the picture of a long-term vision – one built not around a single title push, but sustained success.
“This year's car is just one more step toward our goal. We didn't focus on it as such. What we did was solve problems, optimise processes, and prepare people to think long-term,” James explained. “There's nothing brilliant about this car [FW47], but it sends us signals that we're headed in the right direction.”
He continued: “We're not yet at the KPIs with which we can win championships. But you can see the momentum we're in. And, most importantly, I have the full support of investors for thinking this way. My goal isn't to win one F1 title, but several.”
Huddle Up also joined the conversation, delving into how Vowles has quietly rebuilt one of Formula 1’s most historic teams – creating a new foundation that allows us to challenge for championships once again.

Telling No Lies
After Alex Albon stepped into the spotlight for Sky Sports’ Lie Detector a few weeks ago, it was
Carlos Sainz’s turn ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix.
The challenge? Keep a straight face, answer the big questions, and let the lie detector do the rest.
From whether he thinks he’ll be World Champion, to his thoughts on haggis – Carlos took it all in his stride. As ever, the full feature is a must-watch for fans.
Six Months In
Time flies when you’re building something special. As Carlos Sainz begins his sixth month as a Williams driver, he sat down with
Motorsport.com to reflect on the journey so far, and how the reality compares with the vision.
“At Williams, I saw the potential to start a great story,” he said. “I spoke at length with James [Vowles] about the project he had in mind, and I decided to bet on Williams because it seemed like the best opportunity to build a top team.”
“Six months into this journey, I can say I’m even more convinced than when I signed. We’re all working 100% to achieve this goal.”
He added: “I chose Williams because I saw the potential – for exactly what we’re seeing now. That said, the step forward came sooner than I expected – and perhaps the team itself was also surprised by how much progress it made from last year.”
“In the first races, we took a good step forward, but what gives me the most confidence is that once I was able to start tweaking the setup with the engineers, we made another step."
