Join us for a truly special occasion as Williams opens its doors for An Evening with Jim Barker — a unique opportunity to hear first-hand from one of the team’s longest-serving and most knowledgeable figures.
Jim joined Williams in 1991, beginning a journey that has carried him through nearly four decades with the team. His career began with building the transmission for Williams’ first in-house semi-automatic gearbox, putting him right at the heart of the key technological advancements of the era. He then moved into the race team, travelling around the world and playing a crucial role in some of Williams’ most unforgettable moments. In 2004, Jim shifted his focus to the wind tunnel, and spent a decade helping to drive the aerodynamic innovation of many iconic cars. He later became Car Assembly Manager for the race team and then for Williams Heritage, where he brought his expertise to preserving and running the legendary machines that define the team’s legacy.
Over the years, Jim built close relationships with Sir Frank Williams, Sir Patrick Head, and the drivers who carried Williams to championship glory. Few individuals possess such deep, first-hand knowledge of Williams’ evolution, and even fewer can share stories with Jim’s clarity, warmth and insight.
This event offers a rare chance to hear Jim’s personal reflections, behind-the-scenes stories and memories from a remarkable career. Whether you're a lifelong Williams supporter or simply fascinated by the world of Formula One, Jim’s experiences promise to inspire and captivate.
With refreshments provided and the event set within Williams’ iconic headquarters at Grove, this will be an unforgettable evening celebrating the passion, innovation, and enduring spirit of the Atlassian Williams F1 team.
