Jade Jacquet secured her best result of her F1 Academy career so far, finishing P4 in Sunday's feature race at the Circuits of the Americas.
The Atlassian Williams F1 Team Academy Driver qualified seventh for the weekend, with her second fastest lap placing her sixth on the Opening Race grid.
Jade made a clean start to Saturday's Opening Race, holding sixth place with Emma Felbermayr close behind. However, she dropped to seventh by lap 4 and was swallowed up by Payton Westcott and Ella Stevens in the following tours.
No longer able to defend, Esmee Kosterman managed to fight her way past Jade on lap 8, dropping her to P10. After a safety car on lap 10, Jade managed to hold onto her position, finishing her race in P10.
The Reverse Grid Race saw Jade start on the front row in P2. She was quick to challenge for P1 and overtook Rafaela Ferreira to take the lead of the race in the middle sector. Unfortunately contact at turn 15 brought her race to an early end, with Ferreira receiving a penalty for the incident.
Jade bounced back strongly in Sunday’s Feature Race. After battling with Alba Larsen into turn 1, Jade managed to hold her position, even moving up to P6 by lap 2. She was left defending her position from Lisa Billard and Emma Felbermayr throughout most of the race.
A Safety Car was deployed following a collision from two drivers further up the field, which promoted Jade to P4 – a position she maintained to the chequered flag to secure her best F1 Academy result so far!
The season now heads to Las Vegas for the finale on 19-21 November, where Jade will be looking to build on her encouraging performance in Austin.
“So I finished P4 today, a good race overall. Pretty happy with the result , it was a tricky race with a lot of battles. It felt good like finally I could race after yesterday so it was a good race”
“Best quali of the year, best race and points, so we are all happy!”
