Academy Report: Season finales across the board as Sandro, Kean, Sasha, Dean and Will sign off

It was a weekend of season finales across Europe for the Atlassian Williams F1 Team Driver Academy, with five drivers bringing their respective campaigns to a close.
Alessandro Giusti signed off from his sophomore F3 season with three points finishes at the new Madring, Kean Nakamura-Berta went agonisingly close to the FREC title, Oleksandr Bondarev continued building valuable FREC miles at Hockenheim, and Dean Hoogendoorn and Will Green rounded out the Champions of the Future Euro Series in Sarno.

Formula 3 | Round 9, Madrid
The expanded Madrid finale, featuring two qualifying sessions and two Feature Races, gave Sandro two bites at the cherry, and he made both count. After a free practice session spent finding the limits of a brand-new circuit, qualifying showed improvement in both sessions as he settled into the Madring layout across the day.
The Sprint delivered P5 - his joint-best result of the season. Back-to-back P6 finishes in the two Feature Races then rounded out the weekend, with Sandro scoring in all three races for the first time this season. Teammate Tuukka Taponen won the final Feature Race to help MP Motorsport climb to third in the teams' standings, a strong end to the season for the outfit overall.

Formula Regional European Championship | Round 8 - Hockenheim
It was a weekend that contained the full range of emotions, from a qualifying lap good enough for Group B pole to a title bid all but ended by contact.
Kean arrived at Hockenheim third in the championship, 25 points off Emanuele Olivieri but with 56 available and three races to run. Race 1 delivered exactly what was needed – a P2 from P6 on the grid that cut the gap to within seven points and reignited a title battle that looked to be slipping away after Imola.
Race 2, however, brought heartbreak. Running second, Kean was caught up in a collision with Race 1 winner Jan Przyrowski through no fault of his own and dropped to sixth, whilst Olivieri came home second and clinched the title.
Kean ultimately finishes the season in third on 201 points, with three wins, five podiums and four poles to his name.

Formula Regional European Championship | Round 8 - Hockenheim
One week after one of the most remarkable debut weekends in FREC history at Imola, Sasha returned for his second and final round of the season at Hockenheim, producing another composed performance across both races in Germany.
Free practice was difficult as he found his feet at a very different circuit to the tight Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, and qualifying placed him in the lower reaches of Group A in both sessions. But the races told a more encouraging story. P8 in Race 1 from P19 on the grid was a strong recovery drive, and P7 from P16 in Race 2 continued the same theme.
He closes his FREC cameo 15th in the standings on 47 points from just two rounds of racing.
Dean Hoogendoorn & Will Green
Champions of the Future Euro Series | Round 5, Sarno
The Champions of the Future Euro Series reached its conclusion in Sarno, Italy, with both academy drivers looking to sign off the season in style.
In the OK class, Dean continued to demonstrate the raw pace that has made him one of the standout performers in karting. A Super Heat result of P4 set a reasonable platform, and he converted that into P4 in the Final.
In Junior, Will secured P2 in the Final after working his way up from P8 in the Super Heats, having also won Super Heat B. It was another display of the front-running ability that earned him the FIA Karting European Championship Junior title in Kristianstad, and he signed off the COTF season in second in the championship standings on 296 points.
