Spinal Injuries Association

Every two hours, a person’s life is changed when they sustain a spinal cord injury (SCI). Their world – and that of their family – is turned upside-down. Spinal cord injury can be caused by accidents, illnesses and health conditions.
Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) are the expert guiding voice for life after spinal cord injury. Ther aim is to reach everyone with a spinal cord injury, to tackle whatever barriers they face, and to connect them to all the help and support they need to flourish in their lives, in the way they want and choose.
In 2023 SIA launched their Frank Williams Academy, which is transforming the lives of people with spinal cord injury through education, training, research and development.
A spinal cord injury is life-changing, but it needn’t be life-limiting. Frank Williams was paralysed in a car accident aged 44 but went on to become one of the most recognised and respected people in Formula 1. Many others paralysed by spinal cord injury, don't get the chance to live a fulfilled life with hope, purpose and dignity. Frank knew that and supported Spinal Injuries Association to change the situation.
You can find out more about SIA and the Frank Williams Academy, and how you can support them to reach more people affected by SCI by visiting their website – www.spinal.co.uk.
