It was a Sunday of limited opportunity at the Hungaroring, with overtaking at a premium during the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Despite this, Carlos and Alex kept fighting, making up ground with late-race pace to finish P14 and P15 respectively.
Carlos had looked set to take P13 from Pierre Gasly in the final laps, only to be hit by the Alpine while making the move – forcing him to recover, climbing back to P14. For Alex, a strong opening lap matched with late moves helped him close out a composed drive on a day where progress was hard to come by.
Here’s how it sounded when they crossed the line in Budapest.

Gaetan Jego (GJ), Carlos’ Race Engineer, was first on the radio after a gritty drive in tough circumstances, with Team Principal James Vowles (JV) offering his thanks heading into the break.
GJ: And that's P14. Gasly misjudged that quite a bit. It would have been a recovery to P13. We tried the one stop, it didn't work. There was potential for a point but it didn't make it. I think that was good to try. Good race, good battles out there.
JV: Strong drive today, Carlos. Well done. I think there was one position more ahead of you, but you did a good job. Ultimately, we need to go into the break, reset, and we'll come back at races that we're going to be much, much stronger at. Thank you for this first half of the season.
CS: Thank you, James. Ultimately we just lack pace at these circuits. Did they do something for Gasly?
GJ: He got a 10-second penalty.
James Urwin in communication with Alex Albon on Sunday
For Alex, Race Engineer James Urwin (JU) was on hand post-race, with James Vowles echoing his thanks after a demanding afternoon.
JU: Chequered flag, P15. It looked quite difficult out there at times. The hard tyre towards the end, pace picked up, managed to get some temp back in it after the blue flags. Well done, it looked difficult.
JV: Well done, Alex. Tough day today. We've got some really good races coming for us after the August break. We'll sit down and figure out why these tracks were not good enough, but thank you for everything today. Thank you for this first half of the season. Well done.
AA: Yes, thank you James. Thanks, everyone. A tough start to the summer break, but I'm sure we can have good results – we'll figure it out.
