Logan: “Everyone’s working towards the same goal”

Thursday is the traditional media day in the Formula 1 paddock and for Logan Sargeant, this meant his first taste of a pre-race press conference.

It’s safe to say the build-up to the 2023 season have been completely different to any other year for Logan in his motorsport career, but it’s something he is taking in his stride.

“I feel like it’s business as usual,” he explained when quizzed on the biggest changes to his preparation now he is an F1 driver.

“Now it’s a bit more juggling preparation and media! But to be honest, I feel very happy with where I was with the test, I feel comfortable in the car, I feel like I’ve laid a good foundation and a base to build from, so I’m relatively relaxed heading into tomorrow.”

Last week’s pre-season test went smoothly for both Williams Racing drivers, which allowed LS2 to get plenty of laps behind the wheel and fully acclimatise himself with his new machine.

“It was a lot of laps! But I feel like that just gave me even more confidence, on top of the work I put in in the off-season to physically be ready for this moment.

“To get through a day and a half, 200-and-something laps, completely unphased was a good feeling and leaves me in a good headspace going into the season.”

Logan will line up alongside Alex Albon in his rookie season, and gave his peer a glowing reference when asked what he has been like to work with.

“You know how drivers are, they all keep a little bit to themselves! He's probably the most open and honest teammate I’ve ever had.

“He’s super nice to work with and obviously has a lot of experience, and he’s super quick. It’s a really good reference for me.

“Within the team, I feel like it’s such a healthy environment, everyone’s working towards the same goal and I feel like a part of the family after the past year and a half.”
