Looking back on a productive set of European races over the summer…

The European leg of our 2025 season has come to a close, as we head to the borders of Asia for Round 17 in Azerbaijan.
And it’s been an eventful run of races for Atlassian Williams Racing, in a summer that has seen us visit nine venues across the continent — punctuated by a stint in Canada in June.
That journey began in impressive fashion at the Emilia Romagna GP, when Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz each secured top-10 finishes to add a combined 14 points to our tally.
The duo placed P5 and P8, respectively, in Imola, before repeating their double-points haul the following weekend at the Circuit de Monaco.
This time it was P9 and P10 for AA23 and his Spanish team-mate, as the pair combined well to maintain their relative positions.
James Vowles was certainly pleased with their tactical showing, as our Team Principal highlighted after the race:
“It’s great to walk away with points with both drivers, and brilliant to watch Alex and Carlos execute really strong teamwork to achieve that,” he said.
At that stage of the campaign we had accrued four consecutive double-points returns (Saudi Arabia, Miami, Emilia Romagna and Monaco), but a tricky spell was on the horizon.
Alex endured a trio of DNFs across visits in Spain, Canada and Austria, while Carlos’ P10 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve was sandwiched between more challenging stints in rounds 9 and 11.
However, a home race at Silverstone proved to be a turning point from Albono’s perspective, as he got back among the points by placing eighth at the iconic British track.
CS55 wasn’t too far away in P12 — and a more enjoyable weekend was to come for the 31-year-old, when the action moved to Spa in late July.
It was in Belgium that Carlos secured Williams’ best-ever Sprint result, as his P6 finish yielded three valuable points.
Not to be outdone, Alex added eight points the following day, crossing the line in P6 to wrap up a successful visit to the Ardennes forest for the team.
The final race before the summer break in Hungary was less productive for all parties, but a month-long reset has seen us achieve more success at the Dutch and Italian Grands Prix since then.
Our Thai racer claimed his fourth top-five finish of 2025 in Zandervort, ahead of a P7 placing at the Temple of Speed. Carlos was agonisingly close to the points in Monza, too, as he just missed out in P11.
With 48 points across our nine European races since May — and a current ranking of fifth in the Constructors’ Standings — it’s fair to say that we’ve put in plenty of positive displays on the continent this summer.
The aim now will be to build on those performances in the campaign’s final furlong, starting with next weekend’s race in Baku.
