Luke Browning returns to Super Formula action this weekend as the championship heads to Sportsland Sugo for Round 8 of the 2026 season.
The Atlassian Williams F1 Team Reserve Driver arrives fresh from an encouraging weekend at Fuji Speedway, where a career-best P3 qualifying result and a P8 finish highlighted his growing confidence in the Japanese single-seater championship. Those results see Luke sitting P12 in the standings as his impressive rookie campaign continues.
Now, Luke faces his final new circuit on this year's calendar. Sportsland Sugo, located in Japan's Miyagi Prefecture, has been a staple of the Super Formula championship since 1987 and is regarded as one of the most technical and demanding tracks on the schedule.
Unlike the previous round at Fuji, which featured an expanded triple-header, Sugo returns the championship to its traditional single-race format. With just one opportunity to score points, every practice session, qualifying lap and race stint will be crucial.
Measuring 3.7km, the circuit features a relatively short 704.5m main straight, a narrow layout and almost a 70m elevation change across the lap. Its flowing corners reward precision and commitment, making it a true test of driver skill.
Luke's adaptation to Super Formula has gone from strength to strength this season, and Sportsland Sugo offers another opportunity to build on that progress.
