Several members of the Atlassian Williams F1 Team Driver Academy were back in action across Europe this weekend.
Will Green strengthened his grip on the FIA Karting European Championship Junior title race with another victory, while Dean Hoogendoorn secured a top-four finish in the OK category and Lucas Palacio delivered one of the drives of the weekend. Alessandro Giusti was also in action as the FIA Formula 3 season continued in Barcelona.
Alessandro Giusti
Formula 3
Alessandro Giusti had a challenging weekend as Formula 3 returned to Barcelona.
After showing encouraging pace with P4 in practice, Sandro was unable to convert that speed into qualifying, ending the session P13 and leaving himself with work to do across both races.
The Sprint Race featured two Safety Car interruptions, but Sandro kept things clean and avoided trouble throughout to climb one position and finish P12.
Sunday's Feature Race proved more difficult. Caught up during a busy opening lap, Sandro lost ground early and was unable to recover into the points-paying positions, eventually taking the chequered flag in P17.
The Frenchman will now look to bounce back when the championship heads to Spielberg for Round 4.
Dean Hoogendoorn
FIA Karting European Championship
Dean Hoogendoorn continued his strong FIA Karting European Championship campaign with another impressive result in the OK category.
The Dutch racer secured a place near the front of the field throughout the weekend and qualified P6 for the Final after progressing through the heats and Super Heats.
A competitive showing in the decisive race saw Dean remain firmly in the fight at the front, eventually crossing the line in P4.
The result keeps him in the mix, with Dean now sitting P4 in the standings on 150 points heading into the next round.
Will Green
FIA Karting European Championship
Will Green strengthened his position at the top of the FIA Karting European Championship Junior standings with a commanding victory in Mülsen.
Having shown front-running pace throughout the weekend, the Brit secured pole position for the final and converted it into his second victory of the season.
Will kept in the fight for the front throughout, and when post-race penalties were applied, returned to P1 to add a significant points haul to his championship tally.
The result extends his lead at the top of the standings to 42 points, with the Williams Academy driver now leading the championship on 282 points as the season enters its latter stages.
Lucas Palacio
FIA Karting European Championship
Lucas Palacio produced one of the standout recovery drives of the weekend in the Junior category.
After qualifying P24 for the Final, Lucas faced a difficult task if he was to challenge for the leading positions.
The young American responded brilliantly, carving his way through the field and gaining 18 places across the race distance to finish an excellent P6.
The result marks another encouraging step forward in his rookie European campaign and lifts him to P16 in the championship standings on 47 points.
