With 14 races complete and 10 to come, Atlassian Williams Racing already sit on 70 points – our strongest start since 2016. And, as the fight resumes after the summer break, both Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz have been at the heart of this resurgence.

The opening round in Australia gave the team a taste of what was to come. Alex claimed his best-ever season opener with a fine P5 in challenging conditions, while Carlos was unfortunate not to finish after an encouraging Qualifying in the top 10. Despite the setback, he proceeded to support the engineers in the garage. Even then, it was clear we had taken a major step forward from 2024.
Across the spring run of races, both drivers played their part in establishing us as a consistent points threat. Alex’s back-to-back top 10s in China and Japan were matched by Carlos breaking into the points in Shanghai, showing the FW47 could fight at circuits we hadn’t been able to in recent years.
Carlos and Alex working together in Jeddah
A fine display of teamwork in Jeddah brought home another double points finish, whilst the result in Miami and Imola underlined our momentum. Alex twice finished P5, while Carlos secured P9 in the sunshine state and P8 at Imola – a double-points weekend that went down as our biggest haul since the 2017 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. That result not only boosted the Constructors’ tally, it gave everyone in the garage a clear sign of how far we’d come.
June was a trickier month for the team, with Alex suffering a hat-trick of retirements, and Carlos unable to fight at all in Austria owing to a brake issue on the formation lap. That said, he did secure our only point of that month with a determined drive from P16 to P10 in Montreal.

July brought more memorable moments. At Silverstone in traditional British conditions, Alex delivered a third-successive points finish at our home race, whilst Carlos too was in points contention before being knocked off track by a Ferrari. Belgium brought a pair of P6 results, with Carlos delivering out best ever Sprint result on the Saturday before Alex backed it up in the Grand Prix itself.
Carlos en route to our best-ever Sprint result at Spa
While Hungary proved a tough outing for both cars, there’s no mistaking the bigger picture: Atlassian Williams Racing is enjoying its most competitive campaign in almost a decade.
Both Alex and Carlos have delivered more points this season than we had scored in the past three years combined. We’re under no illusions that we’re in the middle of one of the tightest F1 seasons ever seen, and that gap will continue to close as we get closer to the end of this regulation set.
There’s still plenty to look forward to in 2025, and we’re ready to keep pushing all the way to the chequered flag in Abu Dhabi, starting this weekend in Zandvoort.
