The curtain came down on the 2025 Formula 1 season at Yas Marina, where Carlos and Alex brought the cars home in P13 and P16 respectively.
While points proved out of reach this time, the bigger story was the one we wrote across all 24 rounds, as we delivered our best season since 2016.
As the chequered flag waved for the final time this year, here’s how it sounded over the radio.

Carlos Sainz wrapped up his first year with the team with a composed one-stop drive and some heartfelt exchanges with Race Engineer, Gatean Jego (GJ) and Team Principal James Vowles (JV).
GJ: That's P13, a good one-stop. You did really well. Those late two-stoppers were impossible to fight with. Thank you for this year. It was really a pleasure. You're a gentleman. A super pilot. You're a gentleman and a beautiful driver. And I'm looking forward to next year, mate.
CS: Thank you guys. Yeah, a very good year. Congrats for the P5 and a lot to build on from here, so it's a pleasure. I'm enjoying myself a lot racing for you. I think today we just didn't have the pace as a team, but we can learn from it.
JV: Thank you, Carlos, for an amazing first season together. I look forward to many, many more. P5, let's go build on that next year.
CS: Exactly.
GJ: That’s Verstappen, Piastri, Norris for the race – so Lando is the new champion.
CS: Good, ok! Congrats to Lando, amazing. Must feel good, that!
GJ: I can tell you he’s enjoying it right now. Thank you again for this year.
Alex catches up with James Urwin pre-race
For Alex Albon, it was a battling race shaped by traffic, but his contribution across the season was recognised immediately as he crossed the line by James Urwin (JU) and James Vowles (JV).
JU: Chequered flag, P16 – it all bunched up right at the end. Valiant effort, well done. It’s a pity you spent a lot of that in traffic. Overall from my side, Alex, thank you for the massive contribution you've made to the team this year. From round one and beyond, well done, you should be proud of yourself.
AA: Thank you, James. Thank you, everyone. Thank you, Grove. Thank you, Team 23. You guys are amazing. Definitely some ups and downs, but mostly ups. And plenty to look forward to in the future. Thank you again, and get some rest! We all need it!
JU: Haha, copy that!
JV: Well done, Alex. Thank you! A really, really great season with us finishing in P5. Let's go forward on that for next year, there's a lot more to come. I can't wait!
