Make your selections for Round 23 of Pit Wall Predictions, presented by Gulf

It’s time for the penultimate round of the 2025 season – and in Qatar, strategy is in the balance.
Pirelli’s mandatory 25-lap stint limit means every driver must make at least two pit stops, transforming Sunday’s race. With Carlos starting P7 and Alex in P15, both drivers will need to thread the needle between tyre life and the rhythm of this high-speed venue.
The Strategist has factored it all in, the stint cap, last year’s three Safety Cars, and our recent form, and locked in their calls for Lusail.
Here’s how they see it unfolding…

The Strategist’s Predictions – Qatar GP

Q1: On which lap will Alex make his first stop?

Lap 21-30. With the 25-lap cap in play, Alex is expected to push deep into the opening stint – but not break the limit.

Q2: On which lap will Carlos make his first stop?

Lap 21-30. Carlos should follow a similar pattern from the upper half of the midfield, stretching the tyres as far as Pirelli allows.

Q3: Which Williams driver will pit first?

Carlos. Alex stopped first in Vegas, but The Strategist predicts the CS55 will lead us in this time.

Q4: When the first Williams driver pits, what position will they pit from?

P6-P10. Carlos is starting inside this bracket, and a conventional first stint should keep him there at the time of his stop.

Q5: How many pit stops will our drivers make between them?

Four. With the mandatory minimum of two each, The Strategist goes with the logical option - two per driver.

Q6: How many Safety Car periods will there be?

Zero. Despite the trio of SCs last year, The Strategist is expecting a calmer contest.

Q7: Which driver will set our fastest lap of the race?

Alex. He claimed it here last season, and the prediction is for a repeat.

Q8: Where will the highest-placing Williams driver finish the race?

P6-P10. With Carlos starting P7, there’s a real opportunity to return to the points.
Enforced stops and relentless pace means the 2025 Qatar GP is shaping up to be a test of execution. Make your picks, lock them in, and see if you can outscore our Grove guru under the Lusail lights.
