The 2022 Formula One season will see Alex Albon and Nicholas Latifi reunited as teammates

We might have a new driver line-up for the 2022 season at Williams Racing, but this isn’t the first time Alex Albon and Nicholas Latifi have been teammates.
Cast your minds back to 2018 and amongst an incredibly talented Formula 2 field, our guys suited up for French team DAMS, enjoying a successful campaign.
Alex started the season strongly, with three pole positions in the opening four feature races, with his maiden F2 win coming at Baku.
Further victories would follow throughout the year at Silverstone, Budapest and Sochi, with four additional podium finishes bolstering the Thai-Brit’s title challenge.
His battle with George Russell was taken right down to the final two rounds in Abu Dhabi, with his now predecessor at Grove earning the crown with a feature race victory.
Alex and Nicky go wheel-to-wheel at the Hungaroring
As for our man from Montreal, 2018 was his third full season at DAMS in F2. Where his teammate celebrated in the feature race at Baku, it was Nicky who had success in the sprint around the streets of the Azerbaijan capital with the third-place finish.
There was to be further sprint success later in the year with a commanding lights to flag victory around the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
But the best collective result for the pair came at the feature race in Russia as the DAMS duo charged through the field with Alex leading them over the line to secure a 1-2 finish.
So what can you expect from our pair this year? The fact they have already had a year together is immediately a big positive.
Alex and Nicky will be looking to work in tandem to accelerate car development throughout the record-breaking 2022 season, so already knowing how each other tick should assist this process.
They have both already spent several days in the simulator at Grove as they look to get to grips with the all-new cars before they hit the track at the first of two pre-season tests.
Meanwhile, Nicky has already recommended the onsite Lavazza coffee to our No23 as he settles into life at our Oxfordshire base.
Cast your minds back to September 2021 when both Alex and Nicky spoke for the first time as 2022 Williams drivers.
Stay tuned for plenty more Alex and Nicky content as we gear up for an exciting new F1 season.
