Yas Marina plays host to the final round of this year’s Formula 2 season, and whilst the battle for the title might be sealed, there’s still plenty to play for.
Both Williams Racing Driver Academy members will be looking to end the season on a high at a venue they know well. Here’s what you have to look out for in Formula 2 this weekend.
Luke Browning
A tricky weekend in Qatar meant Luke’s shot at the title slipped away, however he can take confidence from a strong drive in the Feature Race where he pushed from P18 to the final points-paying position.
It’s going to be a busy weekend for the Cheshire native, with his F2 duties bundled together with an FP1 outing in the FW47, before more time is spent in our F1 car at the Young Driver Test next week.
Luke is no stranger to Yas Marina, having taken P6 in the Sprint Race there, as well as completing over 100 laps in the FW46 across both FP1 and testing outings in 2024.
He sits P4 in the standings on 162 points, eight shy of P2 – so the opportunity to become vice-champion in this ever-competitive series is certainly up for grabs.
Victor Martins
Last Sunday in Qatar, Victor took the lead heading into turn one and never looked back, securing his first victory of the season and third of his Formula 2 career.
It was an assured drive, one where his experience in the category was clear to see – the Frenchman remained completely unphased when coming through the alternate strategy runners to confirm the P1 finish.
Like Luke, Victor has good experience in Abu Dhabi. In 2023, he ended the year with the P2 finish around Yas Marina, whilst last year he finished just off of the rostrum in P4.
Another strong weekend this time around could see him jump into the top seven, with Victor currently P9 on 95 points.
